4 Protective Braid Styles
Doing my natural hair every day can be super fun. I love the versatility of my curls and how I can transform whenever I want. It's legit my version of dress up as an adult.
Though I love styling my hair, sometimes it just doesn't fit into my schedule. In between roller sets and twist outs you can find me giving my hair a break with several different protective styles including my favorite braid styles listed below.
Box Braids
Box braids are great because of how long they last. This is my go-to hairstyle when I’m traveling or when I have long stretches of work.
One of my favorite things about box braids is that they’re a protective style that can be styled. I love that you can play around with color and size when they’re being installed, and then after style the braids however you’d like.
Feed in Braids
When I need something protective that will last but doesn’t take a ton of time to install I almost always choose feed in braids. Whether it’s two or twelve, feed in braids are a nice, simple way to pull your hair back for a couple of days.
Faux Halo Braid
Protective braid styles also come in handy when I’m needing to be a classy bitch for a few days. This style is so sexy to me, and it’s super easy to keep up because hair is literally in a ponytail.
In contrast to the other styles, this is a protective style that requires a little daily attention. The halo braid itself is braided separate from my actual hair, so it has to be attached daily to wear.
Multi-braids with Mini Buns
I love this hairstyle a lot because it is fun and youthful. Afro puffs are one of my favorite natural hair looks, and finding this variation allows me to rock them even longer.
Depending on how long I need this look to last I will alternate using weave and my natural hair for the braid
For all of these looks I use kanekalon braiding hair. I’m honestly not partial to any one brand in particular but typically ( especially if I’m wanting some color) I will use outre pre-stretched.
